The International Working Group (IWG) on Women and Sport is the world\u2019s largest network dedicated to advancing equity and equality in sport and physical activity for women and girls around the world.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Established in 1994, IWG developed and remains the custodian of the Brighton plus Helsinki 2014 Declaration<\/a>,<\/span>\u00a0a treaty that signifies a commitment to achieving gender equality in sport and physical activity. Nearly 600 organisations around the world are signatories, including the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF).<\/span><\/p>\n

Fully aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, IWG advocates and runs programmes globally, including the Anita White Fund<\/a>, and the IWG Insight Hub<\/a> \u2013 a collection of key research, case studies and tool kits, contributed from organisations around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

The IWG Global Summit<\/a> is the largest global gathering on gender equity and equality in sport, welcoming senior leaders, experts, researchers and practitioners from around the world. Taking place every four years, the next Summit takes place in Birmingham, UK, in July 2026. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The current IWG Secretariat<\/a> is based in the UK, and is supported by the Sport and Recreation Alliance, UK Sport, Sport England, Sport Scotland and Sport Wales. The organisation is governed by the volunteer IWG Global Executive<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
