{"id":4265,"date":"2021-02-23T13:05:36","date_gmt":"2021-02-23T02:05:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iwgwomenandsport.org\/?p=4265"},"modified":"2021-04-26T12:51:27","modified_gmt":"2021-04-26T02:51:27","slug":"iwg-brings-together-leaders-for-un-international-womens-day-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/old.iwgwomenandsport.org\/ar\/iwg-brings-together-leaders-for-un-international-womens-day-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"IWG brings together leaders for UN International Women\u2019s Day 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/womeninsport.org.nz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Women in Sport Aotearoa<\/a> is very disappointed to announce that, due to the latest <a href=\"https:\/\/covid19.govt.nz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">COVID-19<\/a> restrictions in across Aotearoa New Zealand, that came into effect for seven days from 6am, Sunday 28 February 2021&#8230; the 5th annual \u2018Women You Can Bank On\u2019 event in Dunedin, New Zealand is now postponed to a later date, to be confirmed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Along with their partners at Dunedin Venues Management Ltd and <span class=\"draftJsMentionPlugin__mention__29BEd\" spellcheck=\"false\">Anderson Lloyd<\/span>, <a href=\"https:\/\/womeninsport.org.nz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Women in Sport Aotearoa<\/a> remain committed to staging this event with the Otago community. You can expect an announcement of a rescheduled date ASAP.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>As a reminder, the content from this event will be scheduled as followed once resumed:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Minister Robertson will attend and give the opening address at the 5<sup>th<\/sup> annual \u2018Women You Can Bank On\u2019 event which, this year, will be a celebration of the \u2018women in sport\u2019 movement in New Zealand and internationally. In his role as Minister for Sport and Recreation, Hon Grant Robertson has championed the cause of women and girls in sport, making the drive for positive change in this area as his number one priority.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Timed to coincide with UN International Women\u2019s Day and reflecting the theme \u201cThriving Through Change\u201d the live, moderated conversation will feature leaders from the four major sporting events coming to Aotearoa New Zealand in the next three years:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong> Farah Palmer<\/strong> \u2013 board member of the organising committee for <strong>Rugby World Cup 2021 <\/strong>and NZ Rugby board member. (event: late 2021)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Liz Dawson, MNZM <\/strong>\u2013 Chair of the local organising committee for the <strong>2022 ICC Women\u2019s Cricket World Cup. <\/strong>(event: early 2022)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Raewyn Lovett, ONZM <\/strong>\u2013 Co-Chair of the International Working Group (IWG) on Women in Sport, hosts of the <strong>2022 IWG World Conference on Women &amp; Sport. <\/strong>(event: mid 2022)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong> Johanna Wood<\/strong> \u2013 President of New Zealand Football, representing the <strong>2023 FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup. <\/strong>(event: 2023)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">New <strong>Chief Executive of Sport New Zealand, Raelene Castle<\/strong>, will close the event with stories from her leadership journey. Raelene is one of Australasia\u2019s most well-known sports administrators and was recently announced as Acting Chief Executive for High Performance Sport New Zealand from late April; notable with the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympic Games scheduled to take place this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Rachel Froggatt, Chief Executive of Women in Sport Aotearoa (WISPA) and Secretary General of the International Working Group (IWG) on Women &amp; Sport<\/strong> will also support the event along with representatives from Women in Sport Otago, the local regional network.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cIn March the world will mark 12 months since COVID-19 really took hold around the globe. The past year has been very challenging for the women in sport movement globally. Locally, the strength and dedication of Minister Robertson and our five featured leaders have meant we have been able to preserve momentum. We have so much to look forward to with the \u2018Big Four\u2019 coming to Aotearoa.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Now into its 5<sup>th<\/sup> year, \u2018Women You Can Bank On\u2019 continues to bring together the best cross section of New Zealand leaders and thinkers in the south for a unique experience, compelling conversation and a chance to grow networks. It is a great platform to expand horizons and reset for the challenges and opportunities ahead, in sport, but also across business in the Otago region.
