Matariki brings good fortune, <\/strong><strong>positive change and prosperity through new beginnings.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>IWG Secretariat agency, Women in Sport Aotearoa, <em>Ng\u0101 W\u0101hine H\u0101kinakina o Aotearoa<\/em> (WISPA) is delighted to launch the core programme for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iwgworldconference.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">8<sup>th<\/sup> IWG World Conference on Women &amp; Sport<\/a>, timed to celebrate the reappearance of the <em>k\u0101hui whet\u016b<\/em> (star cluster), Matariki, this month. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>WISPA has also announced an &#8220;Inspire Showcase&#8221;, a free 1-hour test event, designed for participants planning to join the IWG World Conference virtually.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">===<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Over 220+ sessions and almost 500 international speakers have today been confirmed<\/strong> for the world\u2019s largest gathering to advance gender equity and equality in sport and physical activity, taking place in T\u0101maki Makaurau Auckland and Online, from Monday 14 to Thursday 17 November 2022. World Rugby itself has committed a large delegation to the IWG World Conference, after agreeing a strategic relationship with WISPA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Today&#8217;s announcement has been timed to celebrate the reappearance of the <em>k\u0101hui whet\u016b<\/em> (star cluster), <a href=\"https:\/\/teara.govt.nz\/en\/matariki-maori-new-year\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matariki<\/a>, this month. Also known as the Pleiades or the Seven Sisters, this <em>k\u0101hui whet\u016b<\/em> is known the world over, and each whet\u016b holds special meaning in M\u0101ori culture. To launch our core programme today just as Matariki is re-appearing seems almost prophetic, as the world emerges from COVID-19.
