
IWG welcomes interest from any organisation interested in joining the IWG Global Network of Brighton Plus Helsinki Declaration Signatories.
Nearly 600 organisations from around the world, including global organisations, International Federations, National Sports Governing Bodies and other entities, have signed the Declaration. Organisations of any size and from any location globally are welcome to become a signatory.
Signing requirements
Organisations wishing to endorse the Brighton Plus Helsinki Declaration should be able to demonstrate a commitment to upholding some or all of the 10 Principles at the heart of the Declaration. Examples include:
- A dedicated strategy for gender equity and equality within the organisation and the sport, or a strategy that includes this to a significant level.
- Specific programmes developed to support and empower women within the organisation and/or sport, for example leadership programmes or participation programmes.
- A demonstrable commitment to addressing systemic barriers to gender equity and equality within the organisation and/or sport.
IWG also asks that interested organisations familiarise themselves with the Brighton Plus Helsinki Declaration, and the Signatory Pack which will be sent out to prospective organisations.
Signing Process
IWG Women and Sport is dedicated to amplifying the achievements of Brighton Plus Helsinki Declaration signatories.

IWG will then arrange an in-person or online signing ceremony, and in collaboration with the signatory organisation, develop accompanying resources, including a news story and signing video (please see examples below).
