{"id":3350,"date":"2020-08-25T11:44:42","date_gmt":"2020-08-25T01:44:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iwgwomenandsport.org\/?p=3350"},"modified":"2020-08-25T17:41:18","modified_gmt":"2020-08-25T07:41:18","slug":"nicky-van-den-bos-joins-as-programme-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/old.iwgwomenandsport.org\/es\/nicky-van-den-bos-joins-as-programme-director\/","title":{"rendered":"Nicky van den Bos joins as Programme Director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><em>Highly skilled events expert joins to lead overall programme delivery.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Women in Sport Aotearoa (WISPA), delivery agent for the IWG Secretariat &amp; Conference 2018 \u2013 2022, is delighted to announce the appointment of Nicky van den Bos (nee Johnston) to the senior full-time position of Programme Director.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Nicky has joined after nearly three years with New Zealand Cricket, most recently as the Head of Events. In this role, she led a team delivering more than 20 international matches around Aotearoa New Zealand each season. Her responsibilities included leading multiple workstreams across 10 different venues, including management of broadcast integration and production teams, planning of travel and event logistics, budgeting, strategic event planning and execution, along with team and staff management.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">In her new role as Programme Director, Nicky will be in charge of leading all global and local programmes, notably the Sport NZ Women + Girls Summit events in 2020 and 2021 and <a href=\"https:\/\/old.iwgwomenandsport.org\/es\/world-conference\/\">8<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0IWG World Conference on Women &amp; Sport<\/a>, 5 -8 May 2022. The latter is one of the \u201cbig four\u201d women\u2019s sports events coming to Aotearoa between 2021 \u2013 2023, with the women\u2019s World Cups in Rugby, Cricket and Football also being hosted. It is the largest global gathering of experts on gender equity in sport and physical activity, with 2,000+ expected across the physical-digital hybrid programme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Nicky will lead the design of each programme, including theme and content planning, structure and format, budgets and overall global and local implementation, including best in class digital delivery. Her work will directly feed into delivery of both the Women in Sport Aotearoa and IWG strategic plans, and she will be responsible for global partnerships with the likes of the International Olympic Committee. She will have a material role in supporting delivery of results against a number of Sport NZ\u2019s commitments to the government \u2018Women and Girls in Sport and Active Recreation\u2019 strategy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><b style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Rachel Froggatt, <\/b><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><b>Secretary<\/b><\/span><b style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"> General of the International <\/b><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><b>Working<\/b><\/span><b style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"> Group (IWG) on Women &amp; Sport, said:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cWe are about to launch the global campaign for the 8<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0IWG World Conference on Women &amp; Sport. Whilst we are very excited about what we have planned and the impact it will have for women and girls, we have no illusion as to the complexity of the logistical task ahead, especially given COVID-19.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Here at home, we are on the run up to the annual Sport NZ Women and Girls Summit in October. This has also had to be adjusted to suit our continually evolving landscape and to take into account the disproportionate affect COVID-19 is having on sport and physical activity for women and girls.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">We are thrilled to have a director of Nicky\u2019s calibre and experience join us at this critical time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Nicky van den Bos, Programme Director, said:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cI am so very excited to join the Women in Sport Aotearoa team in the preparation and build up towards both national and internationally significant events on the global stage.
