<\/p>\nThis week, the IWG Secretariat is in Costa Rica ahead of the country hosting our 2023 AGM and Global Executive Strategy Session on Thursday this week.<\/p>\n
Tuesday 4 December started with a visit to the British Embassy for the team, with an opportunity to thank the British Ambassador Benjamin Edward Noel Lyster-Binns for the embassy\u2019s support of IWG\u2019s visit and to explain more about the work of the IWG.<\/p>\n

This was followed by a visit to ICODER (El Instituto Costarricense del Deporte y la Recreaci\u00f3n \u2013 the Costa Rican Institute of Sports and Recreation) based at the Costa Rica National Stadium to present the IWG strategy to director Donald Rojas Fernandez, before heading across the city to the home of the Costa Rican Olympic Committee. Here, the team meet with key leaders including the president Alexander Zamora and member of the women\u2019s commission Cristina Gonzalez along with Henry N\u00fa\u00f1ez, President of Central American Sports Organisation.<\/p>\n
Secretary General Lisa O\u2019Keefe said: \u201cWe have had a very productive first day in Costa Rica, meeting with some influential stakeholders from the sports industry and getting a real sense of the desire to improve gender equality for women in sport. We had a good discussion at ICODER regarding the need for change and affirmative action, and we heard from the Costa Rican Olympic Committee about their commitment and actions to promote gender equality.”<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a really worthwhile day, allowing us to build our understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing women in sport in Costa Rica, but also allowing us to raise the profile of the IWG, to highlight the network and to explain more about the Brighton Declaration.”<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was great to meet with so many men who are supportive of the cause, and we came away from today with a sense that these stakeholders aren\u2019t just talking about taking action \u2013 they are actually committed to doing it.”<\/p>\n

Elle a ensuite visit\u00e9 l\u2019ICODER (El Instituto Costarricense del Deporte y la Recreaci\u00f3n \u2013 Institut costaricain des sports et des loisirs) bas\u00e9 au stade national du Costa Rica pour pr\u00e9senter la strat\u00e9gie de l\u2019IWG au directeur Donald Rojas Fernandez, avant de traverser la ville pour se rendre au si\u00e8ge du Comit\u00e9 olympique du Costa Rica. L\u2019\u00e9quipe y rencontre les principaux dirigeants, dont le pr\u00e9sident Alexander Zamora et la membre de la commission f\u00e9minine Cristina Gonzalez, ainsi que Henry N\u00fa\u00f1ez, pr\u00e9sident de l\u2019Organisation sportive d\u2019Am\u00e9rique centrale.<\/p>\n
La Secr\u00e9taire G\u00e9n\u00e9rale, Lisa O\u2019Keefe, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 : \u201cNous avons eu une premi\u00e8re journ\u00e9e tr\u00e8s productive au Costa Rica, o\u00f9 nous avons rencontr\u00e9 des parties prenantes influentes de l\u2019industrie du sport et o\u00f9 nous avons pu nous faire une id\u00e9e concr\u00e8te de la volont\u00e9 d\u2019am\u00e9liorer l\u2019\u00e9galit\u00e9 des sexes pour les femmes dans le sport. Nous avons eu une bonne discussion \u00e0 l\u2019ICODER sur la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 d\u2019un changement et d\u2019une action positive, et nous avons entendu le Comit\u00e9 olympique du Costa Rica parler de son engagement et de ses actions pour promouvoir l\u2019\u00e9galit\u00e9 des sexes.<\/p>\n
\u201cCe fut une journ\u00e9e vraiment enrichissante, qui nous a permis de mieux comprendre les d\u00e9fis et les opportunit\u00e9s auxquels sont confront\u00e9es les femmes dans le sport au Costa Rica, mais aussi de rehausser le profil de l\u2019IWG, de mettre en valeur le r\u00e9seau et d\u2019en dire plus sur la D\u00e9claration de Brighton.<\/p>\n
\u201cC\u2019\u00e9tait formidable de rencontrer autant d\u2019hommes qui soutiennent la cause, et nous sommes repartis d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui avec le sentiment que ces intervenants ne se contentent pas de parler d\u2019agir, mais qu\u2019ils sont r\u00e9ellement d\u00e9termin\u00e9s \u00e0 le faire.<\/p>\n

Esta semana, la Secretar\u00eda del IWG se encuentra en Costa Rica antes de que el pa\u00eds acoja nuestra Asamblea General Anual de 2023 y la Sesi\u00f3n de Estrategia Ejecutiva Global el jueves de esta semana.<\/p>\n
El martes 4 de diciembre comenz\u00f3 con una visita del equipo a la Embajada Brit\u00e1nica, con la oportunidad de agradecer al Embajador Brit\u00e1nico Benjamin Edward Noel Lyster-Binns por el apoyo de la Embajada a la visita del IWG y explicar m\u00e1s sobre el trabajo del IWG.<\/p>\n

A esto le sigui\u00f3 una visita al ICODER (Instituto Costarricense del Deporte y la Recreaci\u00f3n) con sede en el Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica para presentar la estrategia del IWG al director Donald Rojas Fern\u00e1ndez, antes de dirigirse a trav\u00e9s de la ciudad a la sede del Comit\u00e9 Ol\u00edmpico Costarricense. Aqu\u00ed, el equipo se reuni\u00f3 con l\u00edderes clave, incluido el presidente Alexander Zamora y la miembro de la comisi\u00f3n femenina Cristina Gonz\u00e1lez, junto con Henry N\u00fa\u00f1ez, presidente de la Organizaci\u00f3n Deportiva Centroamericana.<\/p>\n
La Secretaria General Lisa O\u2019Keefe dijo: \u201cHemos tenido un primer d\u00eda muy productivo en Costa Rica, reuni\u00e9ndonos con algunas partes interesadas influyentes de la industria del deporte y teniendo una idea real del deseo de mejorar la igualdad de g\u00e9nero para las mujeres en el deporte. Tuvimos una buena discusi\u00f3n en ICODER sobre la necesidad de cambio y acci\u00f3n afirmativa, y escuchamos al Comit\u00e9 Ol\u00edmpico Costarricense sobre su compromiso y acciones para promover la igualdad de g\u00e9nero.<\/p>\n
\u201cFue un d\u00eda que realmente vali\u00f3 la pena, ya que nos permiti\u00f3 comprender mejor los desaf\u00edos y oportunidades que enfrentan las mujeres en el deporte en Costa Rica, pero tambi\u00e9n nos permiti\u00f3 elevar el perfil del IWG, destacar la red y explicar m\u00e1s sobre la Declaraci\u00f3n de Brighton.<\/p>\n
\u201cFue genial reunirnos con tantos hombres que apoyan la causa, y salimos de hoy con la sensaci\u00f3n de que estas partes interesadas no solo est\u00e1n hablando de tomar medidas, sino que en realidad est\u00e1n comprometidas a hacerlo.<\/p>\n
