The IWG Secretariat travelled to Brussels, Belgium, on 18th April to attend the European Summit on Gender Equality and Diversity in Sport.<\/p>\n

The event was hosted by the European Non-Governmental Sport Organisation (ENGSO) and its Equality Within Sport (EWS) Committee. The meeting gathered stakeholders actively working on gender equality in sport across Europe, with the express intention of identifying opportunities to work together and increase our collective impact.<\/p>\n

\"A<\/p>\n

Lisa O\u2019Keefe, Secretary General, and Abby Burton, Head of Strategic Communications, represented IWG alongside Chair Annamarie Phelps CBE OLY who attended in her capacity as Executive Committee Member and Chair of the Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Commission for the European Olympic Committee (EOC).<\/p>\n

Also in attendance were representatives from the EU Sport Unit of the European Commission, the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS) of the Council of Europe, the European Gay and Lesbian Sport Federation (EGLSF), the European University Sports Association (EUSA) and the Global Observatory for Gender Equality and Sport (GO).<\/p>\n

Reflecting on the day, Lisa said: \u201cThe summit in Brussels was an incredibly valuable day spent with key partners from across the European gender equality in sport network, giving us all the opportunity to understand the priorities of each organisation, our plans for the year ahead, and opportunities for closer collaboration.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had useful and important discussions on how to better support each other\u2019s respective projects, and we heard about some fantastic events, conferences, and research projects which we are looking forward to promoting to our digital network in the coming months.<\/p>\n

\u201cCreating a forum for key stakeholders to update on activity, develop a shared calendar, identify joint actions and to spend time discussing how best to collaborate in working towards the shared goal of gender equality in sport is vital to our collective success.<\/p>\n

\u201cA huge thank you to our colleagues at ENGSO for co-ordinating the summit, and in particular to our Global Executive member Sallie Barker for pulling together such an important discussion.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00c9taient \u00e9galement pr\u00e9sents des repr\u00e9sentants de l ‘Unit\u00e9 europ\u00e9enne du sport de la Commission europ\u00e9enne, de l’Accord partiel \u00e9largi sur le sport (APES) du Conseil de l’Europe, de la F\u00e9d\u00e9ration europ\u00e9enne du sport gay et lesbien (EGLSF), de l’ Association europ\u00e9enne du sport universitaire (EUSA) et de l’Observatoire mondial pour l’\u00e9galit\u00e9 des sexes et le sport (GO).<\/p>\n

\u00c0 propos de cette journ\u00e9e, Lisa a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 : \u00ab Le sommet de Bruxelles a \u00e9t\u00e9 une journ\u00e9e incroyablement pr\u00e9cieuse pass\u00e9e avec des partenaires cl\u00e9s de l’ensemble du r\u00e9seau europ\u00e9en pour l’\u00e9galit\u00e9 des sexes dans le sport, nous donnant \u00e0 tous l’occasion de comprendre les priorit\u00e9s de chaque organisation, nos plans pour l’ann\u00e9e \u00e0 venir et les opportunit\u00e9s de collaboration plus \u00e9troite.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Nous avons eu des discussions utiles et importantes sur la mani\u00e8re de mieux soutenir les projets respectifs des uns et des autres, et nous avons entendu parler d’\u00e9v\u00e9nements, de conf\u00e9rences et de projets de recherche fantastiques que nous sommes impatients de promouvoir sur notre r\u00e9seau num\u00e9rique dans les mois \u00e0 venir.<\/p>\n

\u00ab La cr\u00e9ation d’un forum permettant aux principales parties prenantes de faire le point sur les activit\u00e9s, d’\u00e9laborer un calendrier commun, d’identifier des actions conjointes et de passer du temps \u00e0 discuter de la meilleure fa\u00e7on de collaborer \u00e0 l’atteinte de l’objectif commun de l’\u00e9galit\u00e9 des sexes dans le sport est essentielle \u00e0 notre succ\u00e8s collectif.<\/p>\n

IWG asiste a la Cumbre Europea sobre Igualdad de G\u00e9nero y Diversidad en el Deporte<\/h2>\n

La Secretar\u00eda del IWG viaj\u00f3 a Bruselas, B\u00e9lgica, el 18 de abril para asistir a la Cumbre Europea sobre Igualdad de G\u00e9nero y Diversidad en el Deporte.<\/p>\n

El evento fue organizado por la Organizaci\u00f3n Europea No Gubernamental del Deporte (ENGSO) y su Comit\u00e9 de Igualdad en el Deporte (EWS). La reuni\u00f3n reuni\u00f3 a las partes interesadas que trabajan activamente en la igualdad de g\u00e9nero en el deporte en toda Europa, con la intenci\u00f3n expresa de identificar oportunidades para trabajar juntos y aumentar nuestro impacto colectivo.<\/p>\n

Lisa O’Keefe, Secretaria General, y Abby Burton, Jefa de Comunicaciones Estrat\u00e9gicas, representaron al IWG junto con la presidenta Annamarie Phelps CBE OLY, quien asisti\u00f3 en su calidad de miembro del Comit\u00e9 Ejecutivo y presidenta de la Comisi\u00f3n de Igualdad de G\u00e9nero, Diversidad e Inclusi\u00f3n del Comit\u00e9 Ol\u00edmpico Europeo (COE).<\/p>\n

Tambi\u00e9n asistieron representantes de la Unidad de Deporte de la UE de la Comisi\u00f3n Europea, el Acuerdo Parcial Ampliado sobre el Deporte (EPAS) del Consejo de Europa, la Federaci\u00f3n Europea de Deportes de Gays y Lesbianas (EGLSF), la Asociaci\u00f3n Europea de Deportes Universitarios (EUSA) y el Observatorio Mundial de la Igualdad de G\u00e9nero y el Deporte (GO).<\/p>\n

Reflexionando sobre el d\u00eda, Lisa dijo: “La cumbre en Bruselas fue un d\u00eda incre\u00edblemente valioso que pasamos con socios clave de toda la red europea de igualdad de g\u00e9nero en el deporte, d\u00e1ndonos a todos la oportunidad de comprender las prioridades de cada organizaci\u00f3n, nuestros planes para el pr\u00f3ximo a\u00f1o y las oportunidades para una colaboraci\u00f3n m\u00e1s estrecha.<\/p>\n

“Tuvimos discusiones \u00fatiles e importantes sobre c\u00f3mo apoyar mejor los respectivos proyectos de cada uno, y escuchamos sobre algunos eventos, conferencias y proyectos de investigaci\u00f3n fant\u00e1sticos que esperamos promover en nuestra red digital en los pr\u00f3ximos meses.<\/p>\n
