It was founded in 1994 to encourage international collaboration on issues facing women in sport and physical activity.<\/p>\n<p>We achieve this through:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Connecting communities of interest and practice globally, regionally and nationally.<\/li>\n<li>Building and developing strong strategic partnerships with key global organisations.<\/li>\n<li>Continuing the development of the IWG Insight Hub as a leading portal for gender equity and inclusion in sport and physical activity relevant globally across cultures.<\/li>\n<li>Advocating and influencing policy and strategy by sharing impact and learning from work around the globe.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Secretariat of IWG is hosted by the UK (following a bid process) from 2022-2026. Our team is led by <a href=\"https:\/\/iwgwomenandsport.org\/about\/iwg-secretariat\/iwg-uk-steering-committee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Annamarie Phelps CBE OLY<\/a> (Chair), <a href=\"https:\/\/iwgwomenandsport.org\/about\/iwg-secretary-general\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lisa O\u2019Keefe MBE<\/a> (Secretary General) and <a href=\"https:\/\/iwgwomenandsport.org\/about\/iwg-secretariat\/iwg-uk-steering-committee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Clare Barrell<\/a> (Chair, Summit Organising Committee).<\/p>\n<p>A key deliverable for the UK Secretariat is the <a href=\"https:\/\/iwgwomenandsport.org\/save-the-date-iwg-global-summit-9-11-july-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>IWG 9th Global Summit<\/strong><\/a> hosted at the <strong>International Convention Centre, Birmingham<\/strong> from the <strong>9-11 July 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We are looking to recruit a Summit Organising Committee to plan and deliver the summit in conjunction with the small IWG Secretariat.<\/p>\n<p>The scope of the Organising Committee includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identifying and approaching speakers and facilitators<\/li>\n<li>Delivery of a commercial partners programme<\/li>\n<li>Creation and delivery of IWG recognition awards<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring an appropriate delegate support programme is in place<\/li>\n<li>Delivery of a volunteer programme<\/li>\n<li>Development and delivery of a cultural programme<\/li>\n<li>Identifying successes and opportunities for improvement after the summit<\/li>\n<li>Coordinating event logistics<\/li>\n<li>Budget and risk management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Being part of the IWG Global Summit Organising Committee is an excellent opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure delivery of THE global summit on gender equality and equity in sport, attracting 1200+ senior decision-makers and policy influencers from across the world who can shape and drive the systemic change needed to ensure sport and physical activity contributes to a world where all women and girls thrive.<\/p>\n<h3>Role Summary<\/h3>\n<p>Please refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/old.iwgwomenandsport.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/20240717SummitOrgCommitteeTermsofReferenceFINAL.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Terms of Reference<\/a> to see the main tasks and responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants should note that an Event Producer will be appointed to work with the Organising Committee to oversee all aspects of pre-production and delivery of the Summit. An expanded production team will be appointed in early 2026.
